I fell in love with Tricia’s historicals nearly three years ago when Book 2 of her Spanish Civil War series released. I have since read that entire series as well as The Swiss Courier which she recently co-wrote with Mike Yorkey. The stories just keep getting better and better as time goes along. I still hope to find time one of these days to go back and read her historical back list. In the meantime I try to keep up with the books as they come out and as soon as I heard about Songbird I was ecstatic since not only is it from an author who has proven she deserves a place among the best of the best where historicals are concerned but we also share a common fascination with the WWII era. Her stories always contain that elusive romance thread amongst the tangled strands of politics, war and of course adventure with that extra little dash of suspense. Since I was old enough to explore the chapter books too many adorned with the dust of abandonment, I soon discovered the Diary of Anne Frank and my penchant for human interest stories both novel and memoir alike especially those centered around the early half of the 1940’s into the aftermath of the war. Though many have proven emotionally draining reads along the way, there is also that dim flash of hope ever present in the survivors and lost alike until it is extinguished by the enemies.

While I must admit to only having explored the first few chapters of this latest riveting tale of adventure, rescue and of course love, I can tell already that Goyer has delivered above and beyond my high expectations. I have yet to find one of her books disappoints me once I have cracked the covers and get drawn into the latest lives she has woven into yet another tale of heroes and damsels, strong and independent women themselves, perhaps the rescued party but also often the rescuer for those in distress. Codicil:
Don’t forget to check out the other blog hosts for this tour by visiting the complete list at the link near the start of this post. I will be sure to drop back in to my cozy retreat here soon with a more in depth look at Songbird Under a German Moon for interested parties. In the meantime don’t forget to check out the contest in conjunction with this Blog Tour. Oh and BTW my answer to Tricia’s question about favorite eras in history would be a tie between Regency and WWII (surprised? – if you read many of my reviews at all you’d soon see both those types of historicals disproportionately occupying space in my reading world). I nearly forgot to mention that the bookcover will link you to more information about this book as well as one choice of retailer to purchase from. Last but not least drop by Tricia’s Website for more reading suggestions of books you’ll quickly come to love and series you wish would continue on beyond their concluding volume. BTW – Thanks to LitFuse Publicity Group for a review copy.
