Stardust by Carla Stewart – My Review

FaithWords (May 15, 2012)
What do you do when your husband up and leaves you with two young daughters to raise and everyone is demanding you be little miss southern belle? Then life throws you more curve balls than you can imagine including a collection of ramshackle tourist cottages to run when you don’t have any money to speak of. Well if you are Mrs. Georgia Peyton, you are a spirited, determined woman and definitely not that southern belle they all insist on so you turn around take life head on with a few stumbles of faith along the way like the rest of us and prove the naysayers wrong.

This was my first read by Stewart but the characters and story left me wanting to come back for more. I will certainly look for other books by this author. Stewart brings more visibility to the ravages of Polio in the years before vaccines were developed and the effects it had on families and victims it struck. This book also brought to my attention that it was not just a children’s disease it struck adults as well and could manifest in forms that were terminal not merely crippling. Highly recommended as not only an engrossing story with characters who draw you in but enlightening as well. (ISBN#9781455504282, 320pp, $13.99)

  1. Thanks for the review! I am looking forward to reading Stardust. I have read Chasing Lilacs and was hooked on Carla’s writing style. It was a book I couldn’t put down!
