This is a heartwrenching story of grace and forgiveness from the perspective of a young woman in an environment where “males rule”. Some of the males in this story resent a woman being given a position that they feel institutes authority over them in some sense and they think she is taking advantage of that perceived power. One of these characters reacts to her doing her job while still cutting him as much slack as she can with exerting the only power he feels he still has over her – in this case physical. She is forced to finish out her time under the cloud of terror and insecurity that pummels her in the aftermath of this attack. How does someone resisting God respond in these circumstances and what changes when she stops pushing Him away long enough to run to Him instead? Is she able to reflect His love and grace to those still fighting and to those who can’t bring themselves to forgive the atrocious acts they later learn the full truth behind? Keep plenty of tissues handy for this one and be prepared for a very intense read with an extremely deep message. While it took me a few chapters to really get into this book once I truly got going it was well worth the read for the underlying themes that provide an example of how Christ would want us as God’s children to reflect Him in a nearly impossible circumstance. But then God’s specialty is doing the impossible is it not? (ISBN#9781934284087, 300pp, $12.99)

  1. This review did a good job of covering the bases without giving too much away. I think it’s a good book for men to read as well as women, don’t you?
