Today’s Wild Card author is: Melody Carlson
and her book:
Spring Breakdown (Carter House Girls #7)
Zondervan (February 1, 2010)

About the Author:
Melody Carlson has written more than 200 books for teens, women, and children. Before publishing, Melody traveled around the world, volunteered in teen ministry, taught preschool, raised two sons, and worked briefly in interior design and later in international adoption. “I think real-life experiences inspire the best friction,” she says. Her wide variety of books seems to prove this theory. (ISBN#9780310714941, 208pp, $9.99)

Just finished this one even though I had to skip #6 – New York Debut since it was lost somewhere among my other books. Thanks to Zondervan for a review copy.

My Musings:
If you have access to the entire series it reads much better in order as the reader grows along with the characters and gets to know them while reading the earlier books and understanding their backstories helps immensely in seeing where they come from in the later installments. I look forward to The Last Dance – Book 8 in this series and I believe the final visit readers will be given with the girls for now. Spring Breakdown had some good pointers on how to respond when your friends ask you to go along with something you feel uncomfortable with and how people can change because of the consequences of past choices in their lives. be sure and grab a copy of Melody’s latest teen novel that many girls will enjoy and may perhaps recognize one of the characters as similar to themselves or someone they know despite the fact that these girls are living with a retired fashion icon while their folks are off on their own personal quests.
